Grace in Session: When No Is Sacred
“Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’…” – Matthew 5:37
In session this week, a client whispered something that echoed deeply: “I feel guilty saying no—even when I’m drowning.” That moment reminded me how often boundaries are mistaken for rejection, when in truth, they’re invitations to clarity, compassion, and self-respect.
Jesus modeled boundaries with grace. He withdrew to pray, said no to distractions, and honored His purpose without apology. Saying “no” isn’t selfish—it’s sacred. It’s a way of stewarding our energy, protecting our peace, and honoring the image of God within us.
If you’ve been overextending, here’s a gentle prompt:
What are you saying “yes” to that’s costing you peace?
Where might a loving “no” create space for healing?
Affirmation Practice:
I am allowed to say no. My boundaries are a form of grace—for myself and others.
May you feel the strength to honor your limits, the wisdom to discern your yes, and the courage to trust that grace flows even in the pause.
Be happy. Be well.
